The founding purpose of the foundation is to spread the universal value of human being in our society, such as the nature love, human love, challenge spirit of relentless dreams and hopes of mountaineer Um Hong Gil, who has climbed the Himalayas 8000M with 16 different peaks. Furthermore, it seeks to contribute to the establishment of the Republic of Korea as a responsible and respected nation in the international community through humanitarian interactions with developing countries such as Nepal and Pakistan.

On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa stepped on the summit of Everest, the dream of mankind.
Sir Hillary was able to grab wealth and honor in one hand. However, he was always hurt by the poor living environment of village in Nepal who gave him glory. Therefore, he gathered the lecture fees that we earned from traveling around the world, and carried out a charity project to build schools and bridges in remote villages in Nepal. He expanded the business of scholarship projects and bridge construction projects for underprivileged youths and established the Hillary Trust, which is called the "Hillary Foundation". In addition, the environmental movement to save the Earth from the environmental pollution caused by the forest depletion was also actively expanded.

The accomplishments of the Hilary Foundation today were not made overnight.
